Yesterday we packed our wellies and walking boots in the car wrapped up warm and headed off to our nearest National Trust Property. Stourhead is about 15 minutes drive from us and was perfect for a Sunday afternoon stroll.
It was just what we needed after a busy Saturday booking the holiday and a morning of washing cars (hubby), building bookcases (hubby and Tom) and baking (Lottie and I).
It was lovely to see the snowdrops, especially as all traces of our snow last week has now vanished. (See Silent Sunday post)
The children loved wandering through the trees, collecting sticks and jumping in the puddles from the earlier showers.
A Robin seemed to follow us as we walked. Allowing us to take some lovely photos of him.
We enjoyed a hot chocolate in the little renovated cottage half way round the lake. It was timed to perfection as outside the rain began to fall. We sat by the log fire warming our hands and watching the flames dance.
Then by the time we had finished the rain had stopped so we headed back to the car.
A lovely walk in the fresh air, made the Roast Chicken dinner that we had left cooking in the oven even tastier when we arrived home!
