Family Day

After a busy first week back at work and school, we have had a day at home today.  I'd like to say a lazy quiet day but it  wasn't quite like that.  It has rained all day and its cold, but no snow - yet!!  So after looking out of the window the hubby decided today was the day to start decorating! The room of choice was the spare bedroom/study.  This room hasn't been decorated since we turned it into a nursery for our daughter, who is now 5.

Not long after breakfast, the room was emptied, sofa bed and desk carried down stairs into the garage, and all my books and work folders (16years worth of teaching resources) moved to other rooms.  Decorating clothes were put on and Operation Spare Room began.  Now, normally hubby decorates on his own, he does all the ceiling and wall painting and leaves the gloss work to me!  But this time it was a father and son joint effort.  Tom was desperate to help!

They have done a great job, working all day.  They stopped for lunch to eat homemade cheese and bacon flan, and then got back to it.  They have managed to remove the paper border, paint two coats of white paint on the ceiling and a coat of paint on the walls.  Apparently it needs one more coat of paint and then it is my turn to do the glossing.  Its a lovely pale lemon colour.  It should make the room look warm and summery.  Its a south facing room and gets the sun all day.

For pure amusement, here is a photo of hubby decorating! He seems to get more on him than the walls. This photo was taken when he decorated Tom's room before Christmas.  He wouldn't let me in with a camera today!
