Bank Holiday Trip to the Seaside

All of us love the seaside.

We have a day trip at least once a month.

But it is somewhere we tend to avoid on a Bank Holiday weekend.  But not this Bank Holiday Weekend.

We joined the crowds (yes it was packed) and spent Sunday in Bournemouth. The sun shone and it was glorious. Despite the crowds we managed to get parked ok and had a lovely time.
Having a go at balancing on the beach - nobody is holding us!

As the beach was so busy near the pier we walked towards Boscombe.  The beach was far quieter.  We sat and watched a group of people playing Frisbee.  Now when I say a group of people playing Frisbee, I am sure you are all imagining a group of adults or children throwing a Frisbee along the beach and sometimes you see someone catch it!

Sorry about the pictures but I only had my phone and they were throwing it so fast!

Well this was not your ordinary game of Frisbee.  This was a game of Ultimate Frisbee with professionals playing.   A huge area the size of a football pitch or maybe bigger was marked out on the sand with little cones (like the ones we have a school) there were two teams of 5 women all wearing Great Britain Frisbee Team Shirts.  We sat and watched and like everyone else around were amazed at the distance they could throw this Frisbee and more importantly the accuracy they could throw and catch it.  It was like a game of netball but with a Frisbee and a scoring area instead of a net. Here is a link to an article I found about it - Ultimate Frisbee

We had a quick go in the amusements.  The children love the 2p machines especially this one as you put the coin in and it spins around until landing on a square which determines how much you win.  It is fairly addictive but 50p goes a long way when you are 6!

We then had a lovely fish and chip supper sat outside on the balcony of the Harry Ramsdens Restaurant.  The sun was still shining and we had an amazing view, people watching from above.

This especially caught our eye!  After a big party on the beach, how else are you going to get the huge birthday cake back to the car!
